La semana pasada atestiguamos la primera escaramuza de la historia de Sayulita. Hemos visto algunos rodeos, y competencias de Charrería, presentando jinetes varones, pero ésta es la primera vez, que las mujeres locales pudieron pavonear su habilidad en una competencia en el lienzo de Sayulita. Después de un desfile por el pueblo, los equipos de escaramuza se reunieron en el lienzo para la competencia.
Y parece que las jinetes de Sayulita son, como las surfas, las mejores de su juego. Las mujeres locales ganaron el primer lugar en la competencia, que mostró equipos de Bucerias, San José, La Peñita, Compostela, y Tepic -todos, asentamientos más grandes que Sayulita.
Tradicionalmente la charrería incluía nueve eventos, todos de ellos, involucrando competencias entre jinetes varones. La reciente adición de la Escaramuza, con 8 o hasta 10 mujeres por equipo, refleja, tal vez, un pequeño empujón del mundo feminista; o tal vez, los chicos decidieron que les gusta cómo se ven las escaramuzas, con sus elegantes y tradicionales vestidos y sombreros, recuerdos de los trajes del siglo XIX. Todas las mujeres de cada equipo requieren portar vestidos que hagan juego.
Se ven impresionantes, engalanadas todas, y ejecutan maniobras difíciles, como es evidente en algunas fotos. Los antecedentes de las escaramuzas de la actualidad, se llamaban “Adelitas”, o “mujeres de la revolución”. Según la tradición, mujeres a caballo, eran usadas como señuelos durante la revolución. Cabalgarían en retirada creando una nube de polvo, y los soldados federales las perseguirían a caballo, seguros que un ataque vendría desde esa dirección. Entonces el ejército revolucionario atacaría desde otra dirección.
Los pasos de precisión -que ascienden, en parte, a una danza a caballo- realizada por éstas mujeres, parece especialmente difícil cuando se da cuenta que montan de lado, o “albarda”, en una montura especial de charro que ha sido personalizada: cortada y acomodada con un asiento de cuero y tirantes para las piernas. Haciendo un movimiento que se llama “Rayado”, que involucra llevar al caballo a un alto deslizante en pleno galope, dejando los cascos del caballo en línea perfecta sobre el polvo; no puede ser fácil, incluso sentado en una montura regular. Debe ser incluso más difícil sentado en una silla de lado.
Esperemos que las locales, “Perlas de Sayulita”, instruidas por Janet Quijano Bernal, continúen sus día de victoria en las finales del estado, programadas en Junio, en Tepic.
