Watch whales

Like humans, whales love to winter here. Every year from November to April, the waters of Bahia Banderas serve as playground for humpbacks and other whales who’ve made the same long journey south year after year; you can often see them passing by, out at sea, from the hills of Sayulita. Even better, book a boat trip with a savvy captain and you’ll soon find yourself among them, out in the bay, utterly amazed as one breaches off the bow and swims beneath your boat, leaving you awestruck in its wake.
