The roots of Mexican culture are deep and complex, as is evident even in a place seemingly as simple as Sayulita: once a fishing and farming pueblo, now a magical, compelling tourist destination. Though your initial impression may leave you convinced Sayulita is simply that--a fun, colorful beach town stocked with plenty of surfers, hippies, and oddball tourists, there is far more than meets the eye here. Have another look. Better yet, take a day or overnight trip to a couple of nearby destinations, and you’ll learn to see this world with different eyes.
